The Project
The Challenge
An aging entry sequence and disconnected front yard that undersold a well-maintained home.
Our Approach
A redesigned arrival experience — new stone walkway, layered planting, and architectural lighting — that restores pride of place to the property's most visible face.
Materials
- —Tumbled bluestone
- —Boxwood
- —Ornamental grasses
- —Crepe myrtles
- —Drip irrigation
- —LED path and uplighting
106 Williamsburg is a study in restraint and precision. The homeowners came to Yardie with a well-maintained property that nonetheless felt dated and disconnected — the front yard lacked structure, and the entry sequence offered no sense of arrival.
The design centered on a new stone walkway that replaced an aging concrete path. The replacement material — a tumbled bluestone with irregular coursing — creates warmth and character without sacrificing durability. Flanking planting beds were redesigned with a layered palette: boxwood anchors at the base, ornamental grasses for mid-height texture, and a canopy of crepe myrtles to frame the entry and provide seasonal color.
A drip irrigation system runs below the mulch layer, ensuring the new planting establishes cleanly through its first two seasons. Architectural lighting — low-profile path fixtures and warm uplighting through the crepe myrtles — extends the impact of the design well into the evening hours.
